Paris' Popular Bike Program may Come to Chicago
A successful program that makes public bikes available for rent in Paris may spread to Chicago.
Launched in July, the "Velib" bikes were part of the Paris mayor's idea to help reduce traffic and make the city more eco-friendly. Pro-bike enthusiast and mayor-for-life Richard Daley thought it was a great idea he wants to bring the program to Chicago.

RIP Funky Fresh Eazy-E
"You are now about to witness the strength of street knowledge."
10 days after being admitted to the hospital, Kelly-Park Compton-Crip Eazy-E died suddenly of AIDS on March 26, 1995. Two weeks after his passing, Compton Mayor Omar Bradley designated April 7 Eazy-E Day in Compton. And yesterday marked that day.
Top Ten things to do in remeberance of Eazy-Motherfucken-E on his special day:

Ironweed
Love documentary films? Ironweed is a monthly DVD service similar to Netflix. Each month subscribers pay $15 and receive a different “thought provoking, progressive” documentary. Unlike Netflix, the films are yours to keep. The films focus on issues relevant to current events. You can order past films, and they also offer a online forum to discuss the movies and activism outlets with other subscribers.
This month's film is about the war in Iraq: WAR MADE EASY: How Presidents and Pundits Keep Spinning Us to Death
Featuring Norman Solomon, Narrated by Sean Penn •
God Damn I Love Beer
Finally a weekend in Chicago without rain or snow. With the weather prompting everyone outside an appropriately paired beer is needed.
The Maharaja from Avery
Beer Style: Imperial India Pale AleMaharaja is derived from the sanskrit words mahat, - "great" and rajan - "king". Much like its namesake, this imperial IPA is regal, intense and mighty. With hops and malts as his servants, he rules both with a heavy hand. The Maharaja flaunts his authority over a deranged amount of hops: tangy, vibrant and pungent along with an insane amount of malted barley - fashioning a dark amber hue and exquisite malt essence.

R.I.POWER! CHARLTON HESTON!
"You maniacs! You blew it up!"
I have no doubt in my mind that Charlton Heston was one the greatest film actors I ever saw as a kid and he also built in me the idea that all my problems can be solved with either a gun or a nicely placed karate chop. I will seriously miss him and really thought he would live forever.

CRANE COLLAPSE LEADS TO CAT DISASTER!

Residents scrambled to find cats and shelter after a crane collapsed in the midtown neighborhood known as Turtle Bay.
The residents of 17 buildings bordered by 50th and 51st Streets between First and Second Avenues were all asked to evacuate there homes, only being able to bring what they could grab while the Fire Department sought to stabilize buildings damaged by the broken crane.
Six people died in the collapse where the crane crushed a brownstone with several people inside.
Two tuxedo cats survived.
"One cat, Mr. Gloves, was found the day of the building collapse, huddled by a church door and coated in brick dust; the other, Gooksie, turned up 10 days later in an old coal chute under a nearby brownstone."
