Street artist GAIA released this new video that records the observations of passers-by while they walk by of one of his figurative paste-ups in Baltimore.
Wow, that property owner is super expressive about his opinion of graffiti on his property.
Artist Statement:
The focus of this short film is not the piece itself, but the people who encounter the work. All of the participants attend art school in Baltimore. Each person was asked to explain the formal elements of the piece and then allowed to expound on whatever interpretation or ethics of illegal work on the street that they saw fit.
The piece is part of a series of conversations with different individuals from socioeconomic levels/stratospheres. Hopefully, it presents the viewer with the instability of such assumptions in language/education/class.
We're assuming it's this piece they're looking at minus the urban environment, what do you think?
